December 9th 2013

December 19, 2014

Tip of the week:
As December and the cold weather come, the deer begin to group up. The late rut will end by the middle of the month and big bucks will become nocturnal and stay around the food sources. Your best chances to see that big boy will be on the edge of a corn/bean field where he has a thick place to bed down close by. Your opportunity with the muzzleloader or bow will depend on how well you pattern the buck. Figure out what time he moves between his bedding area and food source and set up in that area. The most important thing is to stay down wind, do not spook him, and be patient. In the colder weather, scent and odor will stick out more, use cover scent and limit the use of deer urines. Good luck!
